This article walks through how to add and configure Handled’s warehouse locations in Shopify so inventory and fulfillment settings are set up correctly.
Step 1: Go to Shopify Locations
In Shopify, go to:
Settings → Locations
Step 2: Add a New Location
Click Add location.
Enter one or both of the following locations:
CA Warehouse
250 Palmyrita Avenue, Suite 1
Riverside, California 92507
United States
NJ Warehouse
1050 Slocum Avenue
Ridgefield, New Jersey 07657
United States
Step 3: Turn Off Physical Storefront
For each Handled warehouse location, make sure Physical storefront is turned off.
Handled warehouse locations are fulfillment locations, not customer-facing retail locations.
Step 4: Enable Fulfillment From This Location
In the Fulfillment section, make sure this setting is turned on:
Use inventory at this location to fulfill online orders
This allows Shopify to use inventory at the Handled warehouse location for online order fulfillment.
Step 5: Enable Shipping
Under the Fulfillment settings, make sure:
Shipping: On
Step 6: Turn Off Local Delivery
Make sure:
Local delivery: Off
Step 7: Turn Off Pickup in Store
Make sure:
Pickup in store: Off
Step 8: Repeat for Each Handled Warehouse
Repeat these steps for each Handled warehouse location used for your account.
Each Handled warehouse location should be configured as follows:
| Setting | Required Value |
|---|---|
| Physical storefront | Off |
| Use inventory at this location to fulfill online orders | On |
| Shipping | On |
| Local delivery | Off |
| Pickup in store | Off |
Note About Default Location
One of your Shopify locations should be marked as the Default location.
This is okay. Handled does not require a specific warehouse location to be your default location unless your Handled contact gives you different instructions.
The important settings are that each applicable Handled warehouse location is enabled for fulfillment and shipping, while physical storefront, local delivery, and pickup in store are turned off.
