How to Edit an Order in the Handled System
Before making any changes to an order, we strongly recommend placing the order on Hold. This ensures you don’t risk editing an order while Handled is in the process of fulfilling it.
⚠️ Important
Handled will not work on any order that is on Hold.
While placing an order on Hold is the safest way to pause fulfillment and make changes, don’t forget to set the order status back to Open when you're ready for it to ship.
✏️ Option 1: Edit the Order Through Your Selling Channel (Recommended)
⚠️ Note: This option may not be supported by all selling channels. If changes made on your channel do not reflect in Handled, you may need to edit the order directly within the Handled system (see Option 2 below).
To update using this method:
- Place the order on Hold.
- Make changes directly in your selling channel (e.g., Shopify, Amazon, etc.).
- In the Handled system, check the order to confirm it has updated.
⏱ Note: This may take a few minutes and may require a manual refresh within Handled.
- Set the order status back to Open once everything looks good.
🛠️ Option 2: Edit the Order Within the Handled System
If you need to make changes directly in Handled:
-
Navigate to the Order List page:
Use the search or filter tools to locate the order.
-
Click on the Order ID to open it.
-
Place the order on Hold to prevent fulfillment while editing.
-
Make any required updates. You can edit the following:
- Origin Warehouse
- Customer Details, including the delivery address
- Product Details, including SKUs and quantities
-
Carrier and Service Details – You can select a specific carrier and service (e.g., USPS Priority Mail) when editing an order manually.
🔍 Note: Generalized shipping speeds like “Economy” or “Expedited” are not available when setting carrier options manually. You must choose a specific service.
-
(Optional) Add any printouts or supporting documents to the order.
-
Once you've finished, change the order status back to Open to make it eligible for fulfillment.
