To help us support your Shopify integration, Handled may request collaborator access to your Shopify store.
Collaborator access allows Handled to request limited permissions through Shopify’s secure Partner system. You remain in control of what access is approved, and you can remove collaborator access at any time from your Shopify admin by going to Settings > Users or Users & permissions, depending on your Shopify setup.
Why Handled Needs Collaborator Access
Handled uses collaborator access to help troubleshoot Shopify order and fulfillment issues when they come up.
We do not use this access to run your Shopify store, make routine changes, or manage your day-to-day operations. It is primarily used for setup validation, support, and one-off troubleshooting.
Step 1: Find Your Shopify Collaborator Code
Before Handled can send a collaborator request, we’ll need your Shopify collaborator code.
To find it:
- Log in to your Shopify admin.
- Go to Settings.
- Go to Users or Users & permissions.
- Open the Security or Collaborators section.
- Copy the 4-digit collaborator request code.
- Send that code to your Handled onboarding or support contact.
Step 2: Handled Sends the Collaborator Request
After you send us the 4-digit code, Handled will submit a collaborator request through Shopify.
The request will include the specific permissions we need. You will receive the request inside Shopify and can review it before approving.
Step 3: Approve the Request in Shopify
To approve the request:
- Go to Settings in Shopify.
- Go to Users or Users & permissions.
- Look for the pending collaborator request from Handled.
- Review the requested permissions.
- Approve the request.
Once approved, Handled will be able to help validate your Shopify setup and troubleshoot integration issues more effectively.
Permissions Handled Requests and Why
View Orders
This allows Handled to view order details in Shopify.
We use this to investigate individual order issues, such as orders that did not import correctly, orders with unusual statuses, or orders that need troubleshooting between Shopify and Handled.
View Products
This allows Handled to view your Shopify product setup.
We use this to confirm that products are configured correctly for import into our warehouse management system. This can help us identify SKU, variant, product status, or setup issues that may prevent orders from importing cleanly.
Manage Inventory
The Manage Inventory permission allows Handled to view inventory-related information that may be needed for troubleshooting.
We use this to investigate inventory sync issues, confirm whether inventory is connected to the correct location, and check whether any Shopify settings may be preventing inventory from updating or orders from flowing correctly.
View Locations
This allows Handled to view your Shopify locations.
We use this to make sure your locations are set up correctly to support fulfillment from Handled. Location setup is important because Shopify uses locations to determine where inventory is stocked, where orders should be fulfilled from, and how fulfillment updates are routed.
Fulfill and Ship
This allows Handled to post fulfillment and tracking information to Shopify.
Most fulfillment updates should sync automatically. However, this permission can be helpful if there is a one-off sync failure and we need to manually post tracking information or troubleshoot a fulfillment update.
Can I Remove Access Later?
Yes. You can remove Handled’s collaborator access at any time from your Shopify admin.
